When Nicolas is not going
to school, doing homework or studying for exams, he spends his free time at
the Arab Orthodox Union Club. Because of the ongoing political tension in
Jerusalem and the West Bank, young people have a very limited choice of leisure
activities. A lot of teens end up just staying home, watching television and
renting old movies. Nicolas is lucky that his family is active in the Union
Club because he has more opportunities to participate in activities such as
Scouts, basketball and even learning to play the bagpipes! When he heard about
Cyber Bridges, Nicolas was among the first to express interest. "I think
Cyber Bridges is a good beginning for youth who want to be agents for peace
and become global leaders," he said. "Teenagers can change the harmful
attitudes people have towards one another and can serve as models of what
right relationships should be."
Nicolas' mission is to show the world that solidarity can transform the world. He believes that with understanding and cooperation we can build peace and love in the world.
